Watch Denver Wrangler protesters explain their grievances. So why is gay media still silent?

A very diverse group of LGBT people and allies met Sunday afternoon in front of a bear gay bar called "The Denver Wrangler" to bring attention to their denying entrance to Vito John Marzano, a regular patron who happened to be in drag that day after performing at a nearby fundraiser.

The bar contends they denied him entrance because his ID did not match him visually while simultaneously telling him he wasn't transgender de facto acknowledging that his ID matched.

The law ( para 47-912) requires places that offer alcoholic beverages to insure patrons are of legal age which was accomplished when the staff recognized Vito after he took off his wig. Vito's video of the encounter shows that the management denied him access to public accommodations because of his gender expression in violation of Colorado civil rights law.

Update: Gay media responds in force. List of article published by gay bloggers since this was posted at the bottom of the page.

I asked feminist Yvonne Wright why she was protesting she told me  "What disturbs me the most about this is the opposition from people within our community. If we don't stand together as a community - GLBT - we will never get anywhere. To hear gay men say things like "let them go to their own bars," is reminiscent of the times whites said let black go to their own bars. It is one thing to cater to a specific clientele. It is another to deny entrance or service because you are not a member of that clientele. When you are a public establishment, in Colorado you are required by law to treat everyone the same regardless of race, religion, sex, gender identification or sexual orientation."

More about the sign that shouts transmisogyny over gay media's silence, after the video.

Now about the gay supremacist trans-eraser sign....

Ms. Wright posted this on facebook:

I just e-mailed this to "Out Front."

"One of your regular columnists, Brent Heinze, is outside The Denver Wrangler during tonight's protest with a sign that says "support gay marriage, not drag queens at beer busts." I am just curious if you are covering this event and, if so, if you have seen this. I cannot understand why Denver's leading publication for GLBT issues would allow such a man to be a contributing columnist. It is also my sincere hope, as a legitimate journalist myself, that you are covering this protest. I am an Emmy award winning journalist who has covered stories through-out the world, has worked as both a reporter and an editor, and can say with confidence that this is a significant news event in our community. It has become loud and divisive. The whole issue of gender identity when being used to ID someone at a bar and excluding them and/or women from beer busts is one worth examining (especially since it is illegal and violates the very anti-discrimination codes intended to protect us - an oppressed minority). I realize a lot of people support The Denver Wrangler. I realize the bar contributes to a lot of events in our community. But, I hope you ARE a legitimate source of news and information for our community and, therefore, willing to cover sensitive issues that effect us all. Even more, I hope that you do not allow this man who is publicly spewing hate and discrimination to continue to be a part of your publication."
Thank you, Yvonne Wright

Brent Heinze posted this "apology" on a facebook group called "Exile Fetish Balls"

"I want to express my sincere apology to those who I hurt through my statement during the Wrangler protest on Sunday. By no means was my sign that read, “fight for gay marriage not drag queens at beer bust,” meant to show aggression, intolerance, or non-acceptance to anyone that expresses themselves how they want. It was intended to express my perspective about the fact that some in our community focus on being extremely negative and their energies could also be put towards larger inequities locally. Again, it was not meant to be construed to be hateful towards people expressing individualized gender expression or that they deserve to be discriminated against. I apologize for this having those undercurrents.

I’m trying to work with a few people to see what can be done in the future to have more conversations and see where it goes. I appreciate those who have taken the time to talk and email me about their concerns and frustrations instead of just throwing me under the bus or writing me off. I’m hopeful that through this combative situation some good can come out of this. I’m looking optimistically towards the future."

Hieinze's sign was not a fux pa as he would like to pass it off as.

It clearly frames the issue as nothing else could have. As the video shows, people who were protesting were thoughtful, positive and sensitive. People who belong to the boycott page who were at the protest said were very encouraged by the reactions of Wranglers patrons with whom they interacted with.

The Protest page is and open group so anyone can post. One gay man in a thread since removed by the page admin called us "Twats" and told us to STFU. That sort of behaviour was seen time and again on other threads removed by the group admin.

Objecting to discrimination isn't "slanderous". The Wrangler is touting this letter by local group after members said they went "incognito' to the beer bust and found no discrimination.

Pink Panther LGBT summarily bans Wrangler dissension on Facebook. Will they ban you too?

In fact the only ones being intolerant is the Denver Wrangler staff. They have tried there best to silence the transgender media with intimidation and even threatened Vito with a lawsuit.

Another fact.  The Denver Wrangler has been very intent on cleansing the Internet of evidence, first getting favebook to censor articles about the incident, getting you tube to violate the video and by pressuring myself and the TransAdvocate to take our posts down.

I wanted a cisgender feminist perspective about the Brent Heinze appology so I asked Ms. Wright to comment on it:
His apology was not an apology. Instead of saying "I'm sorry for what I did," he said "I'm sorry if I hurt anyone because of what I did." This is what Heinze said in his apology about the sign, "It was intended to express my perspective about the fact that some in our community focus on being extremely negative and their energies could also be put towards larger inequities locally." This basically reiterated what he said the night before. So what if there are "bigger issues" in his mind. Who decides what is big and what is small? If you're gay and you want to marry, Equal Marriage is a big issue. If you're trans and you are turned down entrance to a bar and embarrassed in front of your friends, that's a big issue. One case doesn't detract from the other. We can all work on many issues simultaneously. Even the U.S. Congress is able to do so by considering both equal marriage and equal treatment in the workplace. One issue doesn't negate or over-ride another. Furthermore, for Heinze to call the protesters "negative" is a slap in the face to GLBT people who fight against injustice everywhere. If he expects me to sit back and not be "negative" when members of my community are being discriminated, he's terribly, terribly mistaken.

"Trans-erasure" "Gay Supremacist" Gay misogyny? Am I being melodramatic? Well lets go to gay blogs that have picked up this story who have published a empathetic view....

Silence.

That's not for a lack of trying. I tried to get gay blogs to speak about this when it the story first broke.

And more recently so has Dan Gonzales:

Silence.

And once again...

If we are to win this battle for equality we must be willing to conduct painful introspection and open, civil dialogue. Without it we stop recovering from the Barney Frank era and splinter once again. There is no LGB without the T.

Woman who claimed Nebraska Medical Center denied her treatment has taken Hir post down

Mika Covington is a genderqueer who prefers the pronouns sie and hir. Sie lives with end stage (stage 5) Nephropathic Cystinosis which affects approximately 1 in 100,000 to 200,000 newborns. There are only around 2,000 known individuals with cystinosis in the world.

Mika had alledged in a blog post tha sie has since removed, that the University of Nebraska Medical Center had refused to perform a kidney transplant after learning of Mika's transgender status.

Mika Covington has since messsaged me via facebook that sie is concerned about possible legal actions and therefore has taken hir blog post down.

This leaves me without an unattributable article and in a very bad position. I will leave this post up with the statement I received from the Nebraska Medical center and will update it as necessary.

Update 11/13/2013. Mika Covington messaged me regarding my taking down the planetransgender post down:

" I still stand by what I said in my post. But, I would point out that no where in my post did I state the University explicitly denied on basis of gender identity or political party preference/identification. Nevertheless, I did include in my post that I had issues because of being gender identity and political party preference/identification. In addition, I must state that I never gave Queerty or the Daily Kos to do a story on my Cystinosis and gender identity."
"Thank you again for writing a post on what was said in my blog."

Update 10:46 PM CT

Taylor Wilson, Senior Media Relations Coordinator at the Nebraska Medical Center has emailed me with this statement:

"We have performed thousands of transplants over the last 40 years. Patients are never rejected based on gender, race or religion. EVER. Organ transplant is highly regulated by the government and politics is never part of the discussion. Without consent from the patient, we can't comment specifically about this case. However, we can say that each prospective transplant recipient has to attend appointments on a regular basis and complete a variety of tests before being eligible for transplant. We want to make sure each patient takes the utmost care of the gift of life they're being given, both immediately after the transplant and for years to come."

"Our institution is filled with talented, caring individuals who strive to provide the highest quality care to everyone. We provide care to the sickest of the sick and often become a place of refuge when other bigger-name centers have turned them down. One of our recent transplant patients may have said it best in this video:"

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Taylor Wilson
Senior Media Relations Coordinator
The Nebraska Medical Center

Mr. Wilson said they have not received the needed consent form from Mika they need to address this case specifically he wanted to respond in general to this blog post.

Mika has tweeted a number of time sie has emailed the Nebraska Medical center but has yet to receive the consent form.

Breaking: Group claims to have enough signatures to force a vote on Ca student Transgender rights

The political strategist who is coordinating the fight against AB 1266 has told the AP they have collected enough signatures to force a referendum.

AP: Opponents of a new California law that gives transgender students certain rights say they have collected enough signatures for an initiative that could repeal the law.

Frank Schubert, the political strategist handling the signature gathering effort for conservative groups, said Sunday that the group submitted 620,000 signatures to get the initiative on the November 2014 ballot. To qualify, at least 505,000 valid signatures must be submitted.

If there have been enough signatures collected as Schubert claims a qualification process must validate those signatures. There is no mention of this on the central hate groups web page.

Pink Panther LGBT summarily bans Wrangler dissension on Facebook. Will they ban you too?

Posted on the Denver Wrangler web site
http://denverwrangler.com/news/open_letter_from_the_pink_panthers_movement1. Colorado law only says that establishments must ensure people embibing are of age. 2. I am happy that someone went to the Denver Wrangler and had a good time. I don't doubt they did on that particular day. 3. Expressing a view is not slanderous. I am positive that if I or Cristin Williams or any of the mainstream publishers slandered the Wrangler they wouldn't have hesitated in bringing a lawsuit.

What followed has just as deplorable. The Denver Wrangler pressured the members of the charities it helps to support by telling individuals they would be unwelcome if they talked about that incident or even remained friends with the victim.

The Denver Wranglers paid representives then went after myself and the TransAdvocate where my planetransgender article was cross posted.

They demanded we take down the pictures and in private messages demanded I delete my article from facebook. They succeeded in pressuring facebook to censure my article and deleted Vito's Youtube video. But their bullying only served to increase my resolve to stand with Vito.

To my knowlage anyone who has dared to question the Pink Panthers to this point about there reaction to the Wrangler incident has been banned from their page. I am asking that you question this as well. Would you belong to a group who whould summarily banned
dissent?

I doubt it. Like there letter said on the Wrangler post they claim to welcome dialog.
Will they welcome yours?

Will they ban you if you attend today's protest at the Denver Wrangler?

  • PROTEST ACTION: Spread the word - Sunday 11-10-2013 4pm @ the Denver Wrangler.

Gender non conforming attire is highly encouraged.
We will be meeting outside the Denver Wrangler to let our voices be heard. We will then proceed to a bar crawl of other establishments in the area to show support of other venues which do not discriminate based on gender presentation.

We will keep it peaceful. We will not enter the bar. We will stay on the public sidewalk and not block traffic, or access to the venue.

    MORE INFO:

It has been understood for many years that the Wrangler denies entry to individuals if their gender presentation does not match their government issued ID. The Wrangler also discriminates using gender based pricing at their beer busts as women are not allowed to participate. This is illegal under the Colorado Anti Discrimination Act.

The Wrangler as a bar, is classified as a venue of public accomodation. As such, they are obligated to accomodate any individual based on their gender or perceived gender status. This policy is transphobic and discriminatory against anyone who presents their gender differently. It is a shame that an establishment which frequently operates under the LGBT banner would have such a policy.

On 8/31/2013 Vito John Marzano tried to enter the Wrangler after attending a fundraiser while in drag. He was denied entry because his gender presentation did not match his government issued ID. It was all caught on video.

Since that night an official complaint has been filed with DORA, and an investigation is under way. A movement called "Boycott the Denver Wrangler" has been formed to encourage Denver residents not to give business to the Wrangler until they change their discriminatory policies. We have attempted to open a dialog with the Wrangler at a nuetral location to end the Boycott, but they refuse. The only response we have received from the Wrangler is threats cvia their attorneys to Vito to cease and desist.

DORA states the following on this issue:

Colorado Law prohibits discrimination in places of public accommodation based on certain protected classes (characteristics). Examples of prohibited discriminatory practices include: terms of service; denial of full and equal service; intimidation; failure to accommodate; access; conditions; privileges; advertising; and retaliation. A place of public accommodation can be a: bar; restaurant; financial institution; school or educational institution; health club; theater; hospital; museum or zoo; hotel or motel; public club; retail store; medical clinic; public transportation; nursing home; recreational facility or park; and library.

Colorado law prohibits discrimination in places of public accommodation based on actual or perceived sexual orientation. By legal definition, sexual orientation means heterosexuality, homosexuality (lesbian or gay), bisexuality, and transgender status. Transgender status means a gender indentity or gender expression that differs from societal expectations based on gender assigned at birth.

Atlanta night club Don Pollo denies entrance to transgender woman saying 'because we can'

On Friday November 8th at about 3:30am Alissah Brooks was illegally denied public accommodations access by employees of Don Pollo's who refused her entrance because of her gender identity. Don Pollo's facebook page makes no mention of the establishment being a members only nightclub.

A male employee appears and asks, “What’s the problem?” One of Brooks’ friends explained, “The problem was she’s a transgender and [the bouncer] denied her entry.” Without skipping a beat the employee asks, “What’s wrong with that?

Here's what's wrong with that...it's against city code as of July 19th 2013 to deny public accommodations on the basis of gender identity. Marco Polo owners and staff really need to become better informed and hopefully less bigoted.

Serbian X Factor Judge Жељко Јоксимовић votes alone against transgender contestant Fifi calling her a "Tranny"

Serbian X Factor judge Željko Joksimović pronounced " [ʒěːʎko jôksimoʋitɕ"] acknowledged he liked Fifi's performance but couldn't vote for a 'tranny'.

Ok, so what happened? Buzz Feed's lazaralazara interpreted the video of her appearance embedded below:

After Fifi’s introduction, judge Kristina Kovač checked with her in which gender she wants to be addressed to and Fifi said – „female“. This is when Željko Joksimović interrupted the conversation with the first transphobic and discriminatory remark:
„Wait wait, sorry, I don’t understand something here. Fifi, in your application it says Filip. How can we then address to you as a female?!“
„Well, I was born as a male and I identify as a female, I am transgender“
„You are a tranny (?). Crazy.“ said Joksimović.

What followed doesn't need much translation. It's obvious by FiFi's eyes narrowing she is being degraded even more by Joksimović who demands that 'both of him' sing another song.

Fifi brings the house down with a rendition from her heart of 'words don't bring me down'. delivering a love smack down to Željko Joksimović.

Bravo Fifi!

Serbia has laws against hate speech based on a persons sexual orientation.

Trans Serbia's Press release regarding discriminatory speech pop singer Zeljko Joksimovic judge X Factor Adria

Gayten LGBT Center to promote LGBT rights and Labrys, lesbian human rights , strongly condemns last night's behavior one of the judges on the show X Factor Adria, which is broadcast on the television channel Pink. reality show in a competition which aired 5 November, the pop singer Zeljko Joksimovic showed a basic lack of respect for competitors who identifies as transgender . Joksimovic is in direct communication with Philip Janevski - Fifi (22) , showed disrespect first, then disbelief and disgust and eventually discredit her as a competitor on the basis of her gender identity, rather than on her singing abilities (Joksimovic at one point and says: "This is not like me ... and well sing"). Zeljko Joksimovic as a public figure has the responsibility for what is pronounced in a public space. Equally important, he shows a basic ignorance of the law on gender expression, and we believe that it violates the Law Against Discrimination , according to a person on the basis of her personal property, not on the basis of her vocal ability. Thus, Zeljko Joksimovic contribute even more difficult position trans people in Serbia who are exposed to daily violence and discrimination at multiple levels. By April 2013th has recorded 78 cases of murders of trans people in the world, according to the report Trans Murder Monitoring , organization Transgender Europe (upon TGEU), published to mark the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia and the vicious murder of Darko Vujanovic in June this year rapid and effective response of the Commissioner for Equality and reaction RBA, and a public apology pop singer Zeljko Joksimovic and TV Pink. Belgrade, 6 November 2013th

X Factor Serbia producers didn't think Жељко Јоксимовић's comments were hate speech. Quite the opposite it seems that they will turn a blind eye to transphobic hate speech on their show if it builds a audience.  X Factor producers statement:

Contestant Philip Janevski Fifi is auditioning for Singing Shows program "X Factor" a second round of competition thanks to his voice and stage performance. The jury "X Factor": Zeljko Joksimovic, Kristina Kovac, Emina Jahović and Kiki Lesendrić are entitled to their own opinion about the registered competitors.

Produced by "X Factor" believes that no member of the jury has not used the hate speech in a fit athlete Philip Janevski, and on the further marketing of the aforementioned athletes will decide the audience.

Andrey L. Bridges guilty on two counts for the murder of transgender woman Cemia Dove Acoff

The jury took 10 days to convict Bridges on two counts of murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. After Bridges learned of Cemia Dove Acoff transgender status he stripped and tortured her to death, tied her to a concrete block and threw her into a pond.

Bridges will be sentenced to life on the 13th of November. He will be eligible for parole in 15 years.

Sadly Dove, a law abiding citizen was revictimized in death simply for her transsexuality.

John Caniglia acted criminal in his "reporting"
The worst offender was the Plain Dealer which originally reported on Dove's murder as that of a oddly dressed man and with a few small exceptions  intentionaly ignored the AP Style guide

The plain Dealer's John Caniglia horrific transphobic reporting criminalizing her life angered Doves family and outraged not only the LGBT community but all people of conscious including the Columbia Journalism Review who slammed him for his articles.

The Cleveland Challenger responded:

Since stories about men who decide to live as women are “sensational” according to Cleveland news standards, the Betty Boop t-shirt and three bras that Dove’s body was clothed in when it was found gets mentioned in the story reporters wrote and broadcast about her.  They also make it a point to call her a “man” to tease readers and television viewers to keep reading and watching.  Cleveland.com told its readers that Dove was “oddly dressed.”
For good measure and an extra kick to the ratings, reporters used the word “transvestite” to describe Dove as something she wasn’t.  The goal is an old school media tactic designed to make her sound like a sexual deviant.  According to the Wikipedia definition of “transvestite,”  the word is a“clinical term that carry potentially negative connotations or implications of mental illness.”
“Police confirm Acoff was a member of the transgender/transvestite community,” WOIO TV19 posted on its website.
Cemia Dove Acoff

Other media outlets rushed in to sensationalize her death hoping to similarly capitalize on her murder by digging up every part and parcel of her existence.

The dangerous drugs she was convicted of possessing are the same ones I and most trans people take every day. The only difference is that she obtained hers legally albeit without a prescription which costs me nearly $1000 a year including doctor visits.

You can get those same drugs online if you can't afford the Physicians and bloodwork. If you can please have a Endocrinologist monitor your health but if you can't I offer these self medicating resources.

Her arrest for using pepper spray was in defense of a eight year old girl who was being badgered by an adult man according to a relative.

Having lived my first 9 years of my life in Cuyahoga county I have to wonder how much the prevailing misogynistic transphobic and homophobic media played in the following 25 years I spent in agony denying my true gender.

It's my hope that social media like planetransgender will help to dispel the untruths and transphobia displayed by media like the Plain Dealer easing the pain for trans people to come.

Richard Thomas.Oakland Teen charged as a adult for setting Transgender student's skirt on fire

OAKLAND, California (Reuters) - A 16-year-old California boy accused of setting fire to a transgender teen's skirt as the victim slept on a public bus in the city of Oakland earlier this week was charged as an adult on Thursday with committing a hate crime.

Richard Thomas was charged with aggravated mayhem, felony assault and a hate-crime "enhancement" after telling a police officer he committed Monday's attack "because he was homophobic," according to the criminal complaint.

The 18-year-old victim, Luke Fleischman, who was born male but identifies himself as gender neutral and goes by the name of Sasha, remained hospitalized in San Francisco with severe burns on Thursday and was listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The teen will require several surgeries to recover, according to a website posted by family members to raise money for the victim's medical treatment.

"The intentional and callous nature of the crime is shocking and will not be tolerated in our community," Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley said in a statement.

Relatives defended Thomas saying he was just joking and not a hateful person.

Meanwhile, police would like to interview passengers on the bus who left before police arrived, particularly two men who helped extinguish the burning clothing. Lead investigator Anwawn Jones can be contacted at 510-238-3326.

"We are asking the good Samaritans to contact the Oakland Police Department, and we also want to recognize their heroic efforts," said Oakland Police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson.

Transgender model Ines Rau rocks with the hot Tyson Beckford

Hot and smart Persian expat Ines Rau is turning the world of cisnormality on its ear!

So Colorlines just has to know, who is this Ines Rau? Hip Hollywood wanted to know so bad they capitalized their query like a explanation point asking who is this "TRANSGENDER MODEL" who would dare pose with a cisgender hunk like Tyson Beckford.

Rau having traveled our road less taken offers this advice to our sisters and brothers considering gender alignment surgeries:

Having a sex change is not the answer to insecurities or other issues, a lot of transgender do not understand that it has to be done with reflection: because of a real deep desire to be a woman from a younger age. It’s fabulous the level of happiness- it’s just absolutely impossible to describe. I’m the happiest girl in the world, just being what I wanted to be. You have to love yourself enough to go for it without the fear of being judged or rejected. That’s my advice for them.

Seems the pictures are so steamy that Istagram and Facebook banned them!

Models.com has a great interview with Ines Rau and yes some more pictures of this gorgeous woman.

Eighth Grade Kansas student Skyler Davis suspended for carrying a Vera Bradley bag

"It expresses myself and I think everyone else can wear it, so I wear it as well," Skyler told KCTV'5s Dave Jordan.

He was summoned to Assistant Principal Don Hillard's office after he wouldn't take it off.

"I went to the office and I refused to take it off, and they suspended me," the teen explained.

School personnel then called his mother, Leslie Willis, to come get her son.

"I was a little furious, and I called the school [and spoke to Hillard] to reverify the story, and yeah, he refused to take off his Vera Bradley bag, nothing more to it," Willis said.

Vera Bradley.com
She said she reviewed the student handbook but did not see a mention to bags or purses. She questions the suspension and the timing.

"Skyler has been going to school since August with that same Vera Bradley bag on, hasn't taken it off. What is the problem?" she asked.

Click here to watch opens in new window

In response to Blome's comments Thursday, Willis told KCTV5 that the bag rule should be a formal part of the student handbook so that there is no confusion.

She said she supports her son and his choices. She said if he wants to carry a Vera Bradley purse or any other type of bag that he should be able to do so without being punished.

In an email, she said that her son went back to school at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the bag in tow.

"He was pulled into an office, behind closed doors to tell him that he was never suspended for refusing to take off his purse, he got suspended for foul language," she wrote. "That's not the story that Mr. Hillard told me yesterday. Skyler is only 13 years old. He's just a child. And if this isn't bullying, I don't know what is."

Senate passes SB 815 Transgender Inclusive ENDA 64 to 32

Click here to watch ENDA pass the Senate
Huge Kudos to the Republican Senators who voted to pass SB 815. Senators Kirk, McCain, Flake, Toomey, Portman, Hatch, Ayotte, Murkowski, Heller and Collins all voted to pass the bill.

But even with broad religious exemptions ENDA is doomed in the Republican controlled house as Speaker Boehner has promised to kill it..

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Monday said he is opposed to ENDA because it could open businesses up to lawsuits.

“The Speaker believes this legislation will increase frivolous litigation and cost American jobs, especially small business jobs,” said Boehner spokesman Michael Steel.

Conservative Republicans have ostracized nearly every portion of our republic who's not white or male. As if on cue to illustrate this chasm in Americana it is recognized that a black transgender man, Kaylar Broadus's appearance before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee last summer, the first transgender person to testify before the Senate, was tipping point.

Meet the 32 Republican Senators  who voted to continue discrimination against LGBT people in the workplace.

Transgender woman Armani Nicole Davenport surrendered to police: pumper party victim still in critical condition

Drag diva Armani Nicole Davenport turned herself in to police on a warrant for negligent injuring after allegedly injecting a transgender woman with silicon.

The So called "Pumper Parties" are low cost high risk shortcuts to a curvy body. They are illegal, the substance injected toxic and the results are sometimes deadly.

The person who Davenport allegedly injected remains in critical condition according to Huffington Post.

Nebraska Athletic Association not voting on transgender inclusive policy

Ian Rivers Ph.D.
June this of this year we welcomed the announcement by Nebraska Rhonda Blanford-Green, NSAA's executive director that a transgender inclusive statewide policy had been voted on and approved unanimously by board members.

The goal, she said, was to make sure that Nebraska schools had plans in place that would ensure that any student could participate in activities. She said it makes sense for schools to accommodate and protect transgender students just as they would students with disabilities or those who are minorities.

“All we're talking about is a checklist to make sure no kid — I don't care if you're a special needs kid, a gay kid, a black kid, a girl — you're not discriminated against,” Blanford-Green said.

But apparently the vote was not included in the minutes meetings for some reason and that gave transgender opponents all they needed to derail progress

The battle for transgender acceptance in the Cornhusker state is intensifying as the states hate groups have coalesced into one entity, "Nebraska Family Alliance" to more effectively fight progress.

Transgender people pose no threat in public accommodations. To this day there has has never been a substituted report of a transgender athlete infringing on a cisgender persons privacy.
