Trans student Max Briggle Wins State Gymnastics Competition

Amber Briggle from Denton Texas wrote about her transgender son's achievement in a Facebook post-

"Max competed at State today, which means I am proud to officially introduce the NUMBER ONE boys' gymnastics vault champion in the *entire* state of Texas! Y'all!!! 🤯"

It humbles me to think that Max achieved this the same week that a district judge ordered a temporary state-wide injunction requiring that Texas halt investigating his mother and eight others of child abuse simply because a family member is transgender.

A Texas judge on Friday issued an injunction against enforcement of the governor’s order to investigate gender-affirming care as child abuse, handing opponents of the policy a temporary victory, reported NBC News and the AP.

District Judge Amy Clark Meachum wrote that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s Feb. 22 directive to the Department of Family and Protective Services was beyond the scope of his authority and unconstitutional.

The directive was given the effect of a new law or rule but without any law being passed, and the actions “violate separation of powers by impermissibly encroaching into the legislative domain,” Meachum wrote.

Texas legislation criminalizing transgender healthcare failed to pass in 2021. Amber Briggle was one of many parents who testified against it.

Having failed to pass this legislation Don Huffines a radical right car salesman who was challenging Abbott in the Governor's primary race criticized Abbott resulting in the state taking down an LGBTQI resource page.

This ultimately prompted Abbott to issue the directive to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) on February 22, requiring it to conduct “prompt and thorough investigation[s] ” into parents of transgender children who have received gender-affirming treatment.

The court case will resume this spring meanwhile Paxton (seen here breaking bread with Max and family at Amber's invitation) is sueing the Biden administration over potentially losing a billion dollars federal funds denying that Paxton or Abbott ever targeted children or families becuse of transgender healthcare.

Meanwhile trans kids, their parents and transgender adults will continue to exist and some of us like Max, will excel! Congradulations Max, you are seen and apperciated.

Anti-trans TEXAS GOP candidate Jeff Younger protested at UNT

Anti-transgender TEXAS GOP candidate Jeff Younger protested at UNT

Virulently anti-transgender TEXAS GOP candidate Jeff Younger was protested at the University of North Texas Wednesday.

Students egged on by Younger who declared that trans people don't exist shouted him down with chants of "Fuck these fascists".

Younger is campaigning to be elected to the Texas House of Representatives to represent District 63 for Flower Mound, Lewisville, and portions of Denton County on an anti-transgender platform.

Younger’s family first made headlines in 2019 when a Dallas County judge granted ex-wife Anne Georgulas, a pediatrician from Coppell, joint custody of the twins.

Judge Kim Cooks defied a jury’s earlier 11-1 verdict that awarded sole custody to Georgulas, declining to intervene in any parental decision over gender identity.

Judge Cooks was heavily critical of Younger at the time, stating he “finds comfort in public controversy and attention.”

The judge accused Younger of being “motivated by financial gain” after the father raised $139,000 in crowdfunding proceeds.

However, Judge Cooks said she set aside the jury’s findings because the state “has no compelling interest to justify such interference” in requiring Younger to “affirm the child and honor the child’s choices.”

The case dragged on for two more years until four months ago, when Dallas County District Judge Mary Brown granted most parental rights to Georgulas.

She granted supervised visits to Younger and barred the mother from beginning “hormonal suppression therapy, puberty blocks, and/or transgender reassignment surgery” without the father’s consent.

This comes as the state of Texas illegally began charging parents of transgender youth with child abuse. The facist govenor and his indicted State Attorny has shut down two of the state's gender afirmimg clinics for purly political reasons.

32,000 people have signed a petition calling on the state to cease terrorizing transgender families for political gain.

Transgender woman Murdered in Houston

Police say her boyfriend arrived and found the door was unlocked, and there was no sign of a break-in.

A transgender woman was found shot to death in her southwest Houston Apartment on Dunlap and Clarewood streets Saturday evening.

According to ABC 13, the yet unnamed woman lived alone and was found by her boyfriend about 8pm on Saturday evening.

Neighbors reportedly told investigators that they didn't hear gunshots so police are assuming that she was murdered earlier in the day when fewer people were at home.

The latest murder is the seventh transgender murder to occur in the greater Houston area and the 13th to occur in Texas since January 1, 2020, according to the TDoR Translivesmatters website.

Commemorating the Life of Vanesa Campos a fierce Trans sex worker

Vanesa Campos

Transgender activist and sex worker Vanesa Campos, came to Paris from Peru in 2016 seeking a better life. But because of her undocumented status and her refusal to bow to thugs, she was brutally murdered in 2018.

Vanesa Campos
Vanesa Campos, leaving from Lima to Paris

Vanesa Campos and other sex workers had been forced in the deepest recess of Bois de Boulogne, a park in Paris due to a law that criminalized their clients. Per the 2016 law, clients face up to €1,500 ($A2393)($1,700US) in fines for a first-time offense, as well as a €3,750 fine ($A5982)($4,253.7USD) for a repeat offense. They did this to give clients a sense of security. But one August night the law that was intended to make her life safer became instrumental in her death.

On Thursday following her murder, sex workers organized a vigil in tribute to Vanesa Campos in the Bois de Boulogne. (Photo Cyril Zannettacci)

Vanesa Campos Vasquez was the type to raise her head high and puff out her chest when she was insulted "travelo" in the middle of the street, noted Liberation France shortly after her murder. Of the type also to draw her best smile when she was assigned an outrageous "Sir" by a stranger. In short, a trans and proud prostitute who despised insults and threats. “She was always the first to come and defend a girl when she was pissed off by shady men during her working hours, sums up her friend Nicky. She was a hell of a big mouth who wasn't afraid of anything."Vanesa Campos Vasquez, 36, originally from Peru and living in France for two years, was a pillar of the community of trans and Peruvian sex workers in the Bois de Boulogne. She died at her place of work, on the night of August 16 to 17, killed by a bullet in the chest.

Prostitute, trans and undocumented, Vanesa Campos died in almost general indifference, regretted the associations. The day after the murder, the Sex Work Union (Strass) deplored it in a press release: “We have this strange impression in us that our deaths do not arouse any emotion. For us, there is never any national mourning. There is never an official commemoration. […] Murders of trans women sex workers are not uncommon. […] Our deaths are normalized. A whore who dies is a bit like killing a video game character, it doesn't matter. It's a bit like a sexist joke, we laugh about it, then we move on.

¡Chicas todas!

The murder of Vanesa Campos happened in a context of increasing criminality in the Bois de Boulogne. Throughout the summer of 2018, a gang of Egyptians were racketeering prostitutes and their clients, their attacks were daily. Vanesa Campos tried to alert the police during one of their patrols, however, due to a lack of proof the officers did not respond to her complaints: “It is always the same. They would ask for their identities, but we didn’t know them. Even though we were very precise in our descriptions, they just wouldn’t listen. After all, we were just a bunch of hookers. Who cares about us?

Testimonies show, indeed, that police officers would mock and humiliate trans prostitutes and undocumented immigrants instead of helping them. Those who were both undocumented and working as prostitutes never dared file official complaints at the police station for fear that they would get deported.

Vanesa Campos then implemented the use of an alert signal for dangerous situations and handed out tear gas canisters to her fellow prostitutes. She hired a bodyguard, himself an undocumented worker, who on August 14, 2018, managed to scare off one of the gangers; the latter, on the same night, broke into a police vehicle and stole a gun (other sources place the theft on August 9). On August 16, 2018, at about 11pm, the Egyptians came back in numbers and attacked the bodyguard.

Vanesa Campos was then left alone to face them and screamed for help: “¡Chicas todas!” One of the assailants then shot her in the chest before shooting several times into the air. They went at her fiercely and unrelentingly using utility knives, sticks, and a handgun, they then fled the scene in a car. At 11.30pm, Vanesa Campos's colleagues found her lying in a pool of her own blood. Paramedics, who arrived 30 minutes later, were unable to resuscitate her.

The Paris court found Mahmoud Kadri, 24, and Karim Ibrahim, 29, guilty of “gang murder”, charges they have repeatedly denied, instead both blaming each other.

The prosecution had recommended on Thursday that Kadri be sentenced to 20 years in jail. He has denied claims from his fellow accused that he shot and killed Ms Campos on the night of August 16, into August 17, 2018.

The prosecution recommended 15 years in prison for Ibrahim, accusing him of complicity to murder.

One of them was handed six years in jail for violence that led to an unintended death.

Four more received varying sentences of up to six years in prison for taking part in the assault.

The sixth was to be jailed for five years for stealing the pistol from the police officers car that was used to kill Vanesa.

Her body was repatriated to Cayaltí. Although her civil status had not been changed, upon a request of her mother, her tombstone does bear the name Vanesa. A small memorial was set in the Bois de Boulogne to pay tribute to her memory.

South Dakota State Chief of Staff Mark Miller calls trans athletes Terrorists

On Thursday SD Governor Kristi Noem defended her Chief of staff after he told committee members debating Noem's anti-transgender bill that transgender-inclusive policies are akin to terrorism.

South Dakota currently has a transgender-inclusive High School policy that allows gender diverse people to compete in sports.

Senate Bill 46, a bill that would prevent transgender girls and women from competing on the sports teams that match their gender, passed the GOP-controlled House State Affairs Committee Wednesday morning.

But it didn't pass without arguments from Gov. Kristi Noem's top staffer, who said transgender peoples' participation in sports is akin to terrorism.

Governor Noem, a trump wannabe with a pathetic history of failed legislation is seeking to end those transgender-inclusive policies and institute strict policies of exclusion and segregation.

During the committee hearing held on Wednesday, a lawmaker asked Dr.Wade Pogany, Executive Director of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota, whether all school boards are in favor of the current transgender athlete policy by the SDHSAA (South Dakota High School Athlete Association)

Dr. Pogany answered that representatives from every school board are invited to Pierre and resolutions are debated and voted on. The school boards voted in favor of using the current SDHSAA policy. It was an overwhelming majority, Pogany says.

A lawmaker then asks, are there any medical reasons to deny transgender women from playing sports. A doctor says no, there is no merit to the claim that transgender athletes have an advantage.

A lawmaker asked what’s wrong with the current transgender-inclusive SDHSAA policy. Gov. Noem’s Chief of Staff, Mark Miller, answered by saying that they believe it is better to have a law in place, not a private policy. Representatives then ask whether Miller has seen this policy fail.

Miller told the committee that with other states allowing transgender girls to compete, this legislation would be like addressing terrorism, by “not letting it get over here.”

Gov. Noem told reporters “that’s not Mark’s heart” on Thursday morning.

When asked if she would sign the bill if it makes it through the House Thursday, Noem said “absolutely.”

I call bullshit -

It is exactly what Noem and her chief of staff meant to say. Time after time humanities history is littered with fascist regimes who first segregate then annihilate those that are different from them. This is just history repeating itself.

VA health records now display gender identity

The Department of Veterans Affairs began including gender identifiers in its national medical record system in December 2021 to help VA providers better understand and meet the health care needs of Veterans.

VA added transgender male, transgender female, non-binary, other or does not wish to disclose options to its new gender identity field, according to the January 12, 2022 Press Release.

Providing this option demonstrates the agency’s commitment to delivering care fitting the individual needs of Veterans enrolled in VA health care, including transgender and gender-diverse Veterans.

“Our goal is to align the department’s policies and procedures with the president’s vision for a more inclusive government,” said VA Secretary Denis McDonough. “All Veterans, all people, have a basic right to be identified as they define themselves. This is essential for their general well-being and overall health. Knowing the gender identity of transgender and gender diverse Veterans helps us better serve them.”

Four transgender women made to strip by Indian police to "prove" their gender

According to the complaint the women were forced to leave their underwear at the police station

Four transgender women were ordered by Tripura police to remove their clothes Saturday night while they recorded their apprehension on social media. After they were stripped and humiliated they were forced to sign a statement that if they 'cross dressed' again they would be arrested.

This happened on Saturday night when the four women were on their way back from a party organized at a hotel in the capital city of Tripura when they were stopped by police and taken to custody, Hindustan Times reports

“While we were coming back from a DJ party in a hotel at around 11 pm on January 8, a few police personnel and a man who claimed to be a reporter stopped us. We were taken to West Agartala Women Police Station where we were asked to strip in presence of both male and female police in the night. They even taunted about our dress code and character, “ said Mohini, one of the transgender women. She added that they were accused of extorting people with fake gender identity.

The transgender women claimed that their source of income through make-up art has suffered loss since a few videos of their harassment became viral on social media.

However, some of these videos were deleted from social media after they sought intervention of the Agartala Press Club.

They also alleged that the police made them sit on the floor and did not get them food even after telling the police that they were hungry.

“We demand justice for ourselves and action against the police personnel and the reporter who were in the police station on the incident night, “ she said.

Sneha Gupta Roy, an LGBTQ+ rights activist and a transgender person, said, “Their life at home and in their localities are stigmatized after videos of their harassment went viral on social media. This has also caused pain to our community both psychologically and emotionally.“

“It’s all about struggle for identity. Whatever happened is violation of human rights. We will fight legally to get them justice, “ said Nilanjana Roy, counsel of the distressed transgender persons.

Later, on Monday evening, they filed a complaint at West Agartala Police Station.

An official from Tripura police, on the condition of anonymity, said that they were arrested under Section 51 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) having provisions of preventive arrest.

“I have heard they were held under Section 51 of IPC and we have asked for a report to ascertain on what grounds they were arrested,” said the official, adding that they can seek intervention of either the Human Rights Commission or Police Accountability Commission if they have faced harassment.

Lia Thomas is being given support by the NCAA, her school, and the Ivy League. Her participation on the woman's swim team may have gone unnoticed. But when she succeeded and broke records she became a lightning rod for vitriol commentary.

This sends a dangerous message to trans people everywhere, do your best and pay the consequences.

Amy Schneider wins $706,000 Becoming all time Female Jeopardy! Winner

Amy Schneider / People Magazine

Transgender woman Amy Schneider made history on the popular daytime game show “Jeopardy!” that aired on Wednesday, winning for the 21st time and breaking the record for most wins by a woman.

In Tuesday's episode, Today reports she tied the 2014 record set by Julia Collins.

Dawn Ennis interviews Amy Schneider for the Daily Beast and asks her about being a trans person in such a high profile situation.

“I really want to praise everybody on Jeopardy!” Schneider said. “Until I brought it up, they never mentioned or referred to me being trans. And had I not brought it up, it was clear that they wouldn’t. And it would never have been commented on if I didn’t want it to be. I really appreciated that about them. I never had one even mildly uncomfortable moment around that with anyone on the Jeopardy! staff, and that was really, really great.”

So why out herself at all?

“One of the motivations was, I don’t want people wondering, and I don’t want people getting weird about it,” explained Schneider. “I also didn’t want to give the impression that it was a secret, and that it was something I wanted to conceal or that I was ashamed of, in any way, or anything like that. So, I didn’t want to be, you know, ‘the trans person,’ but I also didn’t want pretend like that wasn’t true or it didn’t matter.”

The former title holder Larissa Kelly congradulated Amy on her win, "Well, it was fun to hold a Jeopardy record for a few years...but it's been even more fun to watch @Jeopardamy set new standards for excellence, on the show and off. Congratulations to Amy on becoming the woman with the highest overall earnings in the show's history!"

Jury awards $4 million to transgender student in discrimination lawsuit

Gavel - Pexels | Transgender Flag - Monica Helms

A Kansas City Jury has awarded a Blue Springs transgender student four million dollars for denying him access to the boy's locker room and bathroom.

The jury found on Monday that the Blue Springs school district was liable for sex discrimination after denying a male transgender student use of the boys' restrooms and locker rooms KSHB reports

The student had legally changed his name in 2010 and had successfully petitioned the Jackson County Circuit Court in 2014 to amend his birth certificate to reflect his gender and new name.

The student was denied use of the boys' restrooms and locker rooms at both Delta Woods Middle School and the Freshman Center. "Defendants again denied [the plaintiff] access to the boys' restrooms and locker rooms even though he is recognized as a boy under the laws of the state of Missouri," the court document said. "Defendants continue to deny [the plaintiff] access to the boys' restrooms and locker rooms as of the filing of this Petition."

The student participated in boys' P.E. and athletics in middle school, including the eighth-grade boys' football team and track team, and he had to use a "separate, single person, unisex bathroom outside the boys' locker room because Defendants refused to give him access to the boys' locker rooms," according to court documents.

The lawsuit was filed in 2015 after the defendant filed a charge of discrimination with the Missouri Commission on Human Rights in late 2014.

The lawsuit filed for the student states that the district's reason for denying him access was because he was transgender and "is alleged to have female genitalia." "Upon information and belief, Defendants do not speculate, inspect, or otherwise inquire as to the genitalia of other male students," the lawsuit said.

"Defendants have discriminated and continue to discriminate against Plaintiff R.M.A. based on his sex."

A spokesman for the Blue Springs School District said that they will seek "appropriate relief from the trial court and court of appeals if necessary," KSHB 41 News reports.

First ever Indian Cis-trans rom-com Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui panned as a success

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui / youtube screen grab

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui is a groundbreaking Hindi romantic comedy about a high-profile cisgender man and a beautiful transgender woman.

Except the official trailer makes no mention that the co-star is trans, just 'different', admittedly to interest and not to dissuade moviegoers from buying a ticket.

The star playing her opposite, Ayushmann Khurrana, calls her a transgender person (not woman, in the follow-up interview), and the actress who plays his romantic love interest, Vaani Kapoor, is a cisgender woman.

In an interview published by The Indian Express on the day the movie was released director Abhishek Kapoor came to the defense of Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui.

The trailer of the film merely hinted at the larger subject of the film and Abhishek said that it was a conscious call so the audience feels curious. “What happens is the trailer is of 2 minutes. It has a certain tone. The subject and representation could be misunderstood and that could be very damaging to the film, and to the issue itself. Hence we just kind of hinted about it but did not go all out.
Well obviously any interest Abhishek Kapoor gained from the trailer is now negative and probably considered misleading by moviegoers, not to mention transgender people.

SATVIK a Trans man reviews the movie on The Quint.

"To give a glimpse, the movie is about Punjabi hunk Manu Munjal (Ayushmann), whose dream is to win an annual gym competition. Enter Zumba instructor Maanvi Brar (Vaani Kapoor) who joins his gym."

"There is instant attraction, and the couple are drawn to each other. Several steamy scenes later – Maanvi comes out as a trans woman. A slew of dysphoric, triggering, transphobic words and gestures follows."

"I must admit that it hurt me a lot when people in the movie theatre started sniggering and laughing when the transphobic slurs were hurled relentlessly. It even made me scared to use the washroom during the interval."

"Several transphobic comments and words are used like- 'Andar se Bahar se' or 'Thi ya tha' or ‘'Ladke ke sath sex, tu toh ladka bhi nahi hai' – are simply crass and reflects nothing educational about it. The constant stare of eyes from head to toe – sent the audience into hysterical laughs".

"But as someone who was feeling dysphoric, I felt there was nothing funny about it. I can say that this movie was not about empowering the community, it was used horribly as a twist in the rom-com. If you are saying that the movie is about empowering the community, it should be well-researched, and inclusive – and mostly importantly, you are accountable to the community," wrote SATVIK.

It would be safe to say the people who panned this movie as a revolutionary success are the investors and cisgender moviegoers who want to laugh at the transgender plot twist without taking accountability for their actions.

Parents of Transgender Students and ACLU sue the Hanover County School Board

Hanover County School Board

The ACLU of Virginia has filed a lawsuit against the Hanover County School Board over its vote last month to not adopt a transgender bathroom policy.

The Hanover School Board willfully broke the law by voting to deny transgender students protections as required by state law.

The lawsuit, CBS 6 wtvr reports was filed on behalf of five parents with transgender students in Hanover Schools, alleged the Hanover School Board broke two laws at its November 9 meeting. It was at that meeting when the board voted 4-to-3 to not adopt a policy to allow transgender students to use the bathroom of the gender with which they identify.

In March 2020, the General Assembly passed a law mandating that all public schools in Virginia adopt policies ensuring appropriate access to bathrooms and facilities in line with a student’s gender identity, among other protections for transgender students. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) created model policies, including use of facilities, correct pronoun and name usage, privacy and security, dress codes, and more.

All school boards were required to adopt consistent policies by the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. In a public consultation during the November 9, 2021 school board meeting, the board’s own attorney advised them of the state mandate and standing case law from Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board, yet the school board willfully voted to violate the law.

“The Hanover County School Board is denying transgender students a safe learning environment, even after understanding the risks it poses to the health and well-being of students, not to mention the legal liability that comes with breaking the law,” said Eden Heilman, legal director of the ACLU of Virginia. “There’s no ambiguity in the school board’s vote. The board members knew the board’s actions were discriminatory and outside the law, but they did it anyway. These students are compelled to attend school in a school system that refuses to protect them, and each weekday morning, our plaintiffs say goodbye to their kids while fearing for their safety. No parent should be forced into that position.”

Transgender woman Christynne Wood wins lawsuit against Crunch Fitness

Christynne Wood a transgender woman from El Cajon, California has won a settlement after Crunch Fitness denied her the use of the ladies' changing room.

Christynne valued her gym as she had undergone Angioplasty and was told by her doctor in order to never have that happen again she needed to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Christynne, a member of Crunch Fitness began to take exercise seriously and lost 100 lbs.

But nine years into her membership, when she informed the gym’s management that she was in the process of transitioning to female, Wood’s relationship with Crunch radically changed.
