Shrek The Musical Teaching Children To Its OK to Say "Tranny"?!

Is the stage adaptation of Shrek teaching children to say words that kill? According to Robert Cushman, theatre critic for the National that's exactly whats happening. Cushman reviewed it's Toronto opening saying;

"I did, though, warm to the eviction complaint of the Three Little Pigs that “zey blew our condos down.” On the other hand having the Big Bad Wolf lament that “they tore my cotton granny dress / and called me a hot ’n’ tranny mess” suggests that this supposed kids’ show may not be quite sure of its audience, and also that it doesn’t always know what a rhyme is."

And who would think that saying the 'T' word in its most dehumanizing sense is amusing, quaint and endearing? Cushman noted earlier in his review the scenario created by the little pigs/ big bad wolf was a amusing theatrical adaptation of right wing homophobia.

But in all likelihood it's a potentially deadly example of gay transphobia.

DC Transgender Crime: The Epidemic Permission To Murder

Why has there been so many crimes against transgender people in the capitol of our country? I would like to think it would be among the safest and most enlightened cities, but the opposite is true.

To be transgender in DC is to live in utter fear everyday. That fact is partially our fault. Like it or not, we must first take responsibility for our lives and actions before any substantial reduction in violence will happen.

What that means.

Fight transgender 'equality' bills that exclude public accommodations. Killers view that as permission to murder.

Join with your community to confront hate from within your cities police force.

No illegal drugs.

Watch how late you stay out and especially if you travel on mass transport be careful, please.

Don't pick up guys in bars and bring them home.

Stop prostituting yourself (if you are).

I fully understand how hard it is to reenter the workforce after legal transition. It can take years to reestablish credibility. Agnes Torres Mexican Transgender Activist Burnt Alive: Should I Fear?

Just 20 hours of driving time separates me from the location Agnes Torres, a leader of Mexican Transgender people, was brutally murdered

I work and sleep every day in very close proximity to people who have just crossed the border into the united states from Mexico. Some legally, some undocumented seeking asylum and some undoubtedly brutal murderers.

The police officer who was arrested for standing on the hood of a car firing shots at the transgender people inside, has entered a plea of not guilty.

As absurd as this may seem since so many witness have come forward the comments found on that article make sense of this:

I had the pleasure of interviewing upcoming pop singer song writer Ryder Morrison for the March issue Frock Magazine and I'd like to share some of that.

Ryder Morrison (formerly known as Ryder Monroe) is more than just an up and coming recording star, she is a transgender woman doing a unique form of advocacy with her talents.

She is also a transgender person who realized that her potential far exceeded the conditions imposed on her by society. She used that knowledge and faith in herself to begin transitioning into who we know today, an exciting vibrant gifted woman. The next big thing!



Kelli: Ryder, thank you for interviewing with Frock. When we connected on
Twitter I visited your Sound Cloud site. You have a extraordinarily
beautifully voice, with a rich masculine texture but there's a layered
quality that makes it special. You are transgender so your femininity
shines through.

Many of us including myself, are reluctant to use the telephone. Its
embarrassing to have to constantly remind people to call us by
feminine pronouns so the thought of making music would seem
impossible.

Please tell us about your experiences in the music industry marketing
your voice having recently signed with a label.

Ryder: "Mach 1 Music, headed by super-producer Eddie Galan is a publishing company that recently signed me as a songwriter. I'm still actively looking for a contract as a recording artist, and building fan base through youtube, performing, and LGBT* outreach."

"Marketing my voice with a label as a singer has been difficult. When people
first hear my music they are intrigued and impressed at the artist but when they find out that the rich, rock-infused tenor is coming from a beautiful woman, they are almost always confused as the sound is coming from a man, so they think. It never fails. I always get the question,

"But this is a guy singing!?" and the point where I'm forced to come out as
trans* arrives much quicker than I'd typically prefer."

"I've rarely had anyone come outright with their bigotry upon learning of my
transgender status. I get a lot of "I don't want to judge," and "I still love your
music and think you are so talented!" but at the end of the day, once producers and managers learn of my trans* status I can never get a retweet, an email response, or a call back."

"My regular speaking voice, as people can hear in my youtube videos or in
every day conversation with me, is very feminine and actually nothing like my edgy, raspy, singingvoice. What people don't understand is how much muscle control it takes to train a once male-sounding voice to achieve a naturally feminine, passable range.
Almost every trans* singer will tell you it's impossible to train your singing voice in the same waywe can with our speaking voice and maintain the quality and control needed to be successful in the first place. I'd rather be able to sing naturally, and sing well than lose my skill level and authenticity in sounding "female". Unfortunately it's a catch 22for any transgender artist looking to breakthrough in the mainstream music industry."

Kelli: For many Male to Female transsexuals our voices have seemed an almost
insurmountable obstacle to achieving the older concept of 'passing', a
fact not missed as we were humiliated recently by Neil Patrick Harris.
Thoughts?*

Ryder: "I hate the way that people view our community as a whole, even within the LGBT* community, and amongst our supposed "allies". Public figures have been quick to humiliate and deride transgender people as sub-human, and less-than in their rants and more "light-hearted" jokes. A good example of this are noted celebrities Neil Patrick Harris and Kelly Osbourne."

"It upsets me that organizations that are meant to protect the integrity of our community are quick to give these celebrities a pass, and a pat on the back after receiving a quick apology that was more than likely career and politically motivated. Not to mention the so eloquently written articles and blogs these celebrities write in their support of the LGBT* community, which I'm more than convinced are headed up by their PR people. People forget how much words do have an impact. Transgender people are brutally murdered every day, and it's attitudes like the ones the celebrities have matched with the careless tossing around of words to mass media outlets that further fuels this hatred and disgust of transgender people. It's not fair, it's not right and I am so ready to have my soapbox to infect this industry with change."


"In the past, gender non-conforming artists like David Bowie, Billy Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel, and even more recently Jefree Star, have been able to easily gain mainstream acceptance and popularity. It's totally baffling and frustrating that as a transwoman I'm looked at in a completely different way. I live my life authentically and everything I am is represented in my artistry and my advocacy. I aim to be America's first transgender pop star and I know this goal is achievable with the support of the LGBT* community here in the states and abroad."

Open Letter to WBAP Arlington Texas: Drop Rush Limbaugh

Although in truthfulness, I am not a fan of talk radio, I have always been less a fan of Rush Limbaugh. And now he has crossed the line of human decency using his media platform of which your radio station is a part of to slander a young woman.

Limbaugh brags he has a network of 600 Radio Stations. to amplify his word.

As I am sure you are aware of, Limbaugh used your radio station to call Sandra Fluke a "slut" and "prostitute" for testifying in front of congress in favor of publicly funded contraceptives.

Limbaugh stated on the air if she wanted to get publicly funded contraceptives he wanted something for his money, he wanted to watch her having sex. That's sick.

And he said that on your radio station.

Rush Limbaugh's words have have enraged people of all political and religious beliefs.

As of this posting Limbaugh has lost six sponsors, been rebuked by the Catholic University Ms. Fluke attends and even the president of the United States who has consoled Ms. Fluke in response to Limbaugh's attack.

As a resident of Arlington and a fellow Texan I as you to please discontinue broadcasting this mans hateful rhetoric.

INFORMED CONSENT: The True Path For Transgender Treatment

Informed Consent, what a concept!

The AMA begins its definition of informed consent as:

Informed consent is more than simply getting a patient to sign a written consent form.
It is a process of communication between a patient and physician that results in the patent's authorization or agreement to undergo a specific medical intervention.

This Campus Progress article suggests instead of the clinical gate-keeping method of admitting a person is a transsexual, which the APA now uses, we simply use informed consent to begin the process of transition.

Informed consent verse pathologization.

PATHOLOGIZE: to view or characterize as medically or psychologically abnormal.

One interview to obtain informed consent to begin transition as opposed to the unbearably long and quite often frustratingly unyielding process of vetting unknowledgeable therapists who never had a clue about transsexualism or any inclination to recommend hormone replacement in the first place. Gone would be the fallacy being forced to live a 'real life test' separates the pretenders. At that early state of transition we are at our most vulnerable. That concept is one which is long over due to be trashed!

The truth is, most transsexuals have successfully transitioned in spite of the DSM, not because of it!

That is why transgender people and those who truly care for our mental and physical well being are no longer using the DSM Regardless of Proposed Revisions as the standard of care. We have by default been using informed consent for years without naming the process!

Federal Government Announces New Grants Available For Transgender Research

A watershed moment for transgender medical research is upon us. It is imparitive the research is conducted by people with our best interests in mind and people other than those who believe reparative therapy is the end all answer to transsexualism.

The Federal government has realized the medical system has failed the LGBT population in general, and for this post transgender people in particular.

Recent data from national health surveys and targeted studies suggest that prevalence rates for some health conditions are higher among LGBTI populations than for the general population. There is evidence that LGBTI individuals delay health care treatment because they fear stigmatization or because their experiences have led them to believe that many health care providers lack knowledge and experience working with LGBTI individuals. There is also evidence that LGBTI individuals receive health care services that are not as appropriate and effective as those provided to non-LGBTI individuals. This FOA calls for research that will enrich scientific understanding of how sexual orientation and gender identity influence health, perceptions and expectations about health, health behaviors, and barriers and access to health-related services. This FOA also calls for research on how the household and family structures and processes of LGBTI individuals influence the health, development, and well-being of children born and/or raised in these households and families. This knowledge will also guide new directions for studies of the health of both LGBTI and non-LGBTI populations.

Biological and Clinical Factors

Research with transgender people, including transsexual people who intend to seek, have sought, or have received hormonal or surgical interventions and the health effects of such interventions.

Studies of the acoustic factors that contribute to perception of femininity and masculinity and of other non-voice factors (such as articulation, prosody and body language) that interact to create the perception of femininity or masculinity and the effects on the health of individuals.

Studies of the health and developmental effects of early gender assignment in cases of infants born with ambiguous genitalia.

Developmental and longitudinal studies on the health of gender-related and other biological and behavioral characteristics of intersex people, including follow-up studies of persons who have received hormonal or surgical interventions.

Studies of the development and evaluation of approaches to psychosocial assessment and counseling for intersex people and their families.

Studies of competency and training needs among clinicians, employers, and other service providers who work with LGBTI people.

Research to develop and evaluate training and knowledge dissemination programs for clinicians and health service providers on LGBTI-related topics.

I was flabbergasted with Gender Rights Maryland board member Dana Beyer's response to my query as to why I had not been allowed to join GRM Facebook group.

The leadership bringing you the latest Jim Crow laws have a few things in common with their predecessors. They are rich so even though there is no racial delineation there social status all but eliminates the influences these Jim Crow Laws will have on there lives. And boy, they flaunt it like a 1%'er would.

And who could forget when Gender Rights Maryland board member Mark McLaurin called me a " Circus Freak" for taking credit for our success defeating HB235, the 2010 bill without public accommodations Equality Maryland failed to shove down our throats?

“Ohhhhh so it wasn’t spineless lawmakers who killed the bill but rather your uncannily strategic merry band of out of state circus freaks who, heretofore havent been able to organize anything more complex than a Sunday brunch at the local Denny’s ????? Now THAT is funny !!!!! Looooooooool !!!!!”

But now it appears that gender rights Maryland AKA Equality Maryland is going about it piecemeal until Jim Crow becomes a social conscript, again.

Trans Power Trumps Paddy Power: Transphobic Ad Pulled

The ad which was supposedly approved by the UK transgender group Beaumont Society has been pulled by the major television broadcasters after Clear Cast reversed itself and declared it's disapproval of the ad.

This is a huge victory for transgender people because it shows that we have become accepted and respected by society in general. The power of people. This makes us off limits to immoral entities like Paddy Power.

"Bang bang, dead."

But according to the Paddy Power blog they're not done yet. To fill the vacuum left by the Transgender Victors they have identified a portion of society even less protected. Evidently "Chavs" are a social outcast in British culture and Paddy Power means to capitalize on that fact using brutality and murder.

Is violence and the sexual degradation of woman all that Paddy Power understands? Have they no dignity or self respect?

Baltimore County Transsexuals Suffer Jim Crow "Victory"

Jim Crow laws are state and local laws in the United States currently being enacted. They mandat de jure transgender segregation in all public facilities with a supposedly "separate but equal" status for Transgender Americans.




The omission of Public accommodations effectively codifies transgender people as second class citizens and potential sexual predators unworthy of occupying rest rooms with cisgender woman and children.

Clearly there was never any intention of extending meaningful rights to transgender people.

The reality is this bill is meant to discriminate against transgender people and in the truest sense, a Jim Crow law.

Least we forget! Maryland has a long and storied history of legislating and up holding judicially Jim Crow Laws!


Tim Walstrum is absolutely correct when he posted that this law was nothing more that a out for politicians. I will argue they did this with full knowledge history will repeat itself in court as transgender people become even more marginalised!

For the sake of passing this bill transgender people can be denied to use facilities that are distinctly private or personal. This will give anyone the option to deny transgender people access to what ever facilities they designate as personal or private. Like bathrooms for Christ sake!

But to smarmy democrats its a 'victory'. Passing this Jim Crow law is immensely easier than enacting real human rights laws, and doing so is usually not a career ender.

To the gay community, this is also a 'victory' the passage being repeatedly heralded as a victory. The real victory for gay people is they finally throw the transgender monkey off there backs.

To the transgender victims of Baltimore county this is a day that will go down in infamy, unless we are joined by gay people who would demand "gay toilets" in protest.

Transgender people may now feel unfettered to work in Baltimore county unless the bathroom issue stops them from securing employment.

God. THAT IS THE ISSUE!!!!! Unbelievable, anything to get rid of us, right gays?

These rights are not novel or new, they have been in place in 16 states and over 150 municipalities including Baltimore City for the last decade, and Montgomery and Howard Counties.

I urge you not to be swayed by a very vocal and fearful minority who have opposed these rights. As has been the case with every civil rights movement there are always people who are afraid of progress and equality for all. This advertisement for ladies day at a Irish race track invited attendees to engage in singling out transgender woman by spotting the "Stallions from the Mares" calling the ones perceived as unattractive or transgender, "dogs".

Since drunk men are known to make subjective judgments of femininity based solely on perceived sexual attraction this cruelly objectifies females and invites rape and violence against all womankind including those perceived as 'dogs'.

"A convicted sex offender who used his position as a Girl Scout leader to sexually assault young girls now is living in Benton County."

"John D. Babcock, 60, was released Tuesday as an untreated transient sex offender, said Benton County sheriff's officials. He does not have a permanent address, but is required to check in weekly at the sheriff's office."

"Babcock is a Level 3 sex offender, meaning he is considered by law enforcement officials as highly likely to reoffend. He also identifies himself as transgender and uses the name Sarah Babcock."

"He did not participate in a sex offender treatment program offered by the state Department of Corrections while he was in prison, said Dianne McCants, who handles the sex offender registrations for the sheriff's office."

Missouri School District Blocks LGBT Positive sites as Sexually explicit

The same web filtering service employed by the district allowed sites to be viewed by students that portray LGBT people negatively categorizing them as religious!

"Camdenton schools use urlblacklist.com to categorize web addresses. The company, Laughrey wrote, assigns categories to websites. Ones that express a positive view toward LGBT individuals are put into its "sexuality" category, which Camdenton blocks. Ones expressing a negative view toward LGBT individuals fall into the "religion" category, which Camdenton does not block."

The district has 30 days to comply. Not "oh whoops, our bad". Heads should roll.

Why do Maryland Dem's think Transgender people are Hapless Idiots?

I'm sure Maryland Democrats and some Equality Maryland board members would have been happy if I hadn't picked up on a heterosexual media story about Democratic Tom Quirk's proposed amendment to Baltimore law allowing Employers to determine Public Accommodation Access.

To my knowledge at that time there was no mention of that amendment in gay media.

Now Quirk and company are trying to spin the story so everyone thinks it was their intention to include public accomidations in the original bill.

That is simply not true. It was Quirk's intention from the begining to require transgender people to use the restrooms other than the ones that are inline with our gender presentations putting us at incrediable risk.

"Public accommodations means any place which holds itself out as inviting the public to utilize its goods and services, whether or not for profit. PUBLIC ACCOMMODATIONS DOES NOT INCLUDE ACCOMMODATIONS THAT ARE DISTINCTLY 8 PRIVATE OR PERSONAL."

But they lost the advantage of suprise they had last year when Equality Maryland tried to force a law on Maryland trans folk that would not have given transgender people a pot to piss in.

Transsexuals Want Out of DADT? Get Out of the DSM! No Short Cuts!

In response to the Out Serve article Transgender the New DADT there have been a number of transgender bloggers making a case that our exclusion from the DADT repeal was because gay people wanted it to happen so bad they pushed us from the table to get it done.

This time it wasn't a fault of gay peoples action or inaction we did not advance our agenda's simultaneously.

It's our fault. We have sucked at getting off our asses away from the keyboards to make ourselves visible.

Out of the DSM out of DADT! No short cut to that happening.

As founder of the growing online group Dallas Transgender Advocates and Allies I stood alone in front of the hotel the Texas APA convention despite lobbying heavily for members to attend. No one else bothered to show up. Our european community has made headlines why can't we in the states?

Gay people set the stage for the repeal of DADT by their hard work, protesting and educating which eventually led to the 1973 removal of homosexuality from the DSM. The following membership vote demanded by those opposed validated the Boards decision.

A retired Army Staff Sergeant's opinion on how to eliminate DADT for Transgender people in the service. One, We must continue laying the ground work changing society's perceptions of us.

Two, We must focus as much energy as we can getting ourselves OUT of the DSM.

Transgender people are barred from the Army by Reg. 40-501:

Tranny. Faggot, are words that harm equally those they are meant to offend. Not using them is a simple request that's generally respected with a few exceptions.

However, many high profile gay people feel its their right to defame transgender people and have long done so despite our requests, then demands and most recently glittering.

ABC Work It is Axed! WE WIN!

ABC PULLS WORK IT AFTER TWO EPISODES!!

We can't take all the credit for Work It's demise, it was just god awful. But we will bask in this victory. Work It's problematic transphobia inspired people internationally to consider our shared humanity and after reading our petition they signed by the thousands in solidarity.

People came from all corners of the globe to stand shoulder to shoulder with us making our planet just a little more friendly to everyone.

We couldn't have done this alone. We were stagnated around 200 signatures until a article written by Emerson Whitney was published on Huffington Post. That kick started our petition and coupled with the Dallas Transgender Advocate and Allies event and a Care2 guest post I was so graciously invited to write, our cause began to gain some legs.

Then HRC and GLAAD stepped in and added their support but sadly without mentioning the grass roots advocacy that had preceded their involvement.

But our victory highlights just exactly what transgender people can do when we take possession and responsibility for our condition. We can change the world!

Now I hope that the president of ABC Paul Lee is a little more understanding of what made Work It so very offensive. Paul Lee stated it's in his contract he's obligated to produce "cross Dressing" shows. If he attempts a show about gender diversity again lets hope he does it with intelligence, insight, compassion and reality.

Rep. Richard Floyd, Tennessee Legislator Promises To "Stomp A Mudhole" In Me

The face of hatred of all that is gender gifted, Rep. Richard Floyd author of the Tennessee house transgender hate bill HB2279 is quoted as saying:

“I believe if I was standing at a dressing room and my wife or one of my daughters was in the dressing room and a man tried to go in there — I don’t care if he thinks he’s a woman and tries on clothes with them in there — I’d just try to stomp a mudhole in him and then stomp him dry,”

The same day that Floyd's threat was made public Tennessee Sen. Bo Watson, R-Hixson who had sponsored the Senate version of the house hate bill abandoned Floyd, withdrawing the bill. Watson said he sponsored the bill as a standard courtesy to local House members, but there was more pressing issues and he didn't want to get "Side Tracked". The truth is Watson agrees with Floyd, he's just trying to say his pathetic political ass.

What does Stomp a Mudhole and walk it dry" mean? The Urban Dictionary defines it as: "To tear someone a new ass, to beat them to near death or to otherwise hurt someone to the point that they can not fight back."

This threat by a Tennessee Representative towards people he was in trusted to protect must not go unpunished let alone dismissed as unimportant as Senator Watson wishes. When this article went to press the people of Tennessee have voted in a poll by a margin of 88% in favor of letting transgender people use the public accommodations that are in line with our gender presentation.

To do otherwise for transgender people would be to invite beatings as Tennessee Legislator Rep. Richard Floyd promised he would do to me.

I'm buying a Case of Girl Scout Thin Mints For Equality

Everyone is sure to have read the heartwarming story of the transgender girl, Bobby Montoya, who after initially being turned away by the Girl Scouts was later invited to join.


Well, its not over yet as one Girl Scout has initiated a campaign to ruin the annual Cookie fund raiser as her way of protesting the Girl Scouts inclusivity.

I think equal rights is at issue here but most importantly we must consider what affect this transphobic hyperbole has on young girls, be they cisgender or transgender. That being said, our contribution to the well being of these youth begins with signing and sharing the petition and eating Thin Mints for Equal Rights.

Baltimore Democrat Proposes Law allowing Employers to determine Public Accommodation Access

The proposed amendment by Maryland Democratic Tom Quirk apparently supported by Gender Rights Maryland AKA Equality Maryland would empower employers to discriminate.

According to the Columbia Patch "the primary aim of the bill is to protect transgendered workers from discrimination and firing because of their sexual identity."

Really, sexual identity? The article references the Chrissy Pollis McDonald's attack as the motivation for the bill.

Chrissy was not covered under McDonald's non discrimination policy had she been a employee there. And theres still nothing in the McDonalds employees handbook educating people about transgender people despite 250,000 people signing a petition asking that McDonalds do so!

Clearly its up to the government to mandate equality.

Possibly as a bone to the opponents a provision would be added allowing employers to determine if transgender people could use a public facility.

"The bill will also contain language dealing with the use of public accommodations, including public restrooms. The language in the bill will allow employers the flexibility to set their own rules on the use of restrooms, Quirk said."

The proposal redefines public accommodations:

Presumably this is what would allow employers the option on whether of not to allow trans people into restrooms.

Even though the Maryland bill that was defeated last year DID NOT have public accommodations the article for SOME reason blames public accommodations for its defeat on the floor.

That's not what happened. Transgender people of Maryland rejected that bill.

Once again Equality Maryland AKA Gender Rights Maryland is seeking the easy way Out.
